Sazan Island Albania’s mysterious hidden world
Sazan Island is the largest island in Albania, located at the entrance of the Bay of Vlorë, where the Adriatic and Ionian Seas meet., once a top-secret military base. For decades, it was closed off to the public, adding to its mysterious charm.
Now you have the rare chance to explore its abandoned tunnels, old military barracks, and hidden beaches, all guided by our professional tour guide.
You’ll have 1 hour and 30 minutes to discover the history, walk through the deserted town, and swim in the untouched, crystal-clear waters — far away from the crowds.
Haxhi Ali Cave – A natural wonder of the sea
Next, we visit the Haxhi Ali Cave, the largest sea cave in Albania and one of the most famous sea caves in Albania, located at the northwestern tip of the Karaburun Peninsula.
The cave is named after Haxhi Aliu, a famous Albanian sailor and warrior from the 17th century, who, according to legend, used the cave as a shelter and hiding place from pirates and enemy ships. The cave is about 30 meters long, with a height of up to 18 meters and a width of 12 meters at the entrance. Inside the cave, you can admire the natural beauty shaped by centuries of sea and wind erosion with its high ceilings, shimmering water reflections, and mysterious atmosphere. Carved by nature itself, this impressive cave was once a secret hideout for pirates and sailors.
We will pause at the entrance for a few minutes ,the perfect moment for incredible photos and videos. From the ship, you’ll have a panoramic view of the cave’s towering cliffs and the deep turquoise waters that make it a true natural masterpiece.
Karaburun Peninsula -Paradise by the sea
The Karaburun Peninsula is a rugged and mountainous strip of land extending into the sea, located in southwestern Albania. It is part of the Karaburun-Sazan Marine National Park, which is Albania’s only marine park. The peninsula is largely undeveloped and uninhabited, offering breathtaking natural beauty and a sanctuary for wildlife.
Throughout history, Karaburun served as a strategic lookout and hiding place. It was used by pirates, traders, and resistance groups due to its remote nature.
The peninsula remains largely untouched by mass tourism, offering a raw and authentic Albanian coastal experience.
